SHOP AMERICA ALLIANCE BACKGROUND AND OVERVIEW
Shop America Alliance LLC is the exclusive travel trade organization representing more
than 200 premier shopping tourism destinations, retailers, shopping centers, museum stores
and outlets in North America. Founded in 1998, Shop America Alliance produces the annual
Shop America Tourism Conference and SASI Awards, publishes Shop America Magazine and
markets more than 150 shopping tours in 30 cities at shopamericatours.com and through
leading tour operators and travel partners. Shop America is a founding partner of the US
Cultural & Heritage Tourism Marketing Council. SAA's President serves on the Travel

TOURISM PARTNERSHIPS AND CONTACTS
Shop America Alliance develops and manages marketing partnerships with leading travel
firms and organizations worldwide and provides SAA members with leads, contacts and new
opportunities for business development. SAA maintains tour operator and travel media
databases available to SAA members. Shop America Alliance is an active member of Travel
Industry Association of America (Board of Directors), Receptive Services Association,
International Council of Shopping Centers, Travel & Tourism Coalition, VISIT FLORIDA,
Shop California, Visit USA Committee UK and SeeAmerica/Canada, Luxury Marketing Council,
International Culinary Tourism Association and the US Cultural & Heritage Tourism
Marketing Council, representing all SAA partners and providing industry leadership.
TOURISM INFORMATION, IDEAS AND TREND ANALYSIS
SAA and monitors and reports on tourism trends and Shopping Tourism developments via ongoing
member communications and DIRECTIONS E-newsletter. SAA is a source for media information on
Shopping Tourism and frequently refers media to SAA members. SAA also publishes Tourism
Training White Papers with the Museum Store Association and is developing the new official
Shopping Tourism Study with the US Department of Commerce.
SHOP AMERICA TOURISM CONFERENCE AND SASI AWARDS
The Shop America Tourism Conference is held annually in a major shopping tourism
destination to provide executive level education and networking opportunities for retail
and tourism professionals. Shop America salutes innovation and honors marketing
excellent through the SASI Awards and Shopping Tourism Person of the Year at the annual
Conference.
SHOP AMERICA TOURS PACKAGING AND MARKETING
Shop America Tours is SAA's packaged tour sales division that markets commissionable
shopping tours that generate revenue for SAA members. Shop America Tours are sold at

AAA PARTNERSHIP-- TOURISM TRACKING AND REWARDS PROGRAM
Shop America VIP/AAA Show Your Card & Save is SAA's exclusive tracking and rewards
program that rewards visitors with discounts at participating SAA member locations. The
VIP program has tracked over 2.5 million Shopper Tourists over the past six years. SAA
works with top tour operators and select AAA/CAA clubs on the VIP program.
SHOP AMERICA MAGAZINE PROVIDES NATIONAL AND INTERNATIONAL MEDIA EXPOSURE
Shop America magazine, with a per issue circulation of 100,000-plus, is published each
Spring and Fall, showcasing SAA members with consumer focused editorial and advertising.
Shop America magazine is the only national shopping tourism magazine in North America and
it is distributed in partnership with leading AAA/CAA Clubs and Essentially America in
the UK as well as at major travel trade events.
ONGOING EDUCATION, COUNSEL, RECOMMENDED RESOURCES
Shop America Alliance offers ongoing education by providing speakers on Shopping Tourism,
participating in major tourism meetings and providing tourism counsel to SAA members upon
request. The Shop America Scholarship, presented in partnership with TIA, benefits
deserving undergrad students in a tourism or hospitalities studies program. SAA's list
of Recommended Resources includes consultants, agencies and travel experts who can enhance
your tourism marketing programs.
TOURISM MARKETING, PR, TRAVEL TRADE SHOWS
Shop America Alliance promotes global awareness of the important economic impact of
Shopping Tourism and specific SAA member locations and programs through PR, Travel Trade

opportunities are available at several of the travel trade events SAA attends and leads

Member DMO Partners underwriting fees (currently California, Florida, Las Vegas, New York

$2500-Retailers or Restaurants, up to 5 locations
$5000-National retailer or restaurant chain promoting 6 or more locations
$30,000-Sustaining Level Members for groups of shopping centers, outlets and DMOs with
